Ages are determined by how old your child will be on August 31st.  For example, if your child is 9 years old on August 31st they will play for the Juniors team.  If they do not turn 9 until after August 31st they will play for the Sophomores.

How long does the season last?

The Cougars begin practice in mid to late July.  Games will begin mid to late August and run through the first week of November (as the season gets closer we will post specific dates).

How often are practices held?

Practice will begin mid to late July.  Practices are held at Madison Cross Roads Elementary every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  Players are required to attend at least 2 practices a week to be able to participate in games.

Can I drop my child off for practice and pick them up when it is over?

No, a parent/guardian is expected to be on school grounds while their child(ren) is at practice.  IF, on occasion, this is not possible, you must coordinate with your childs coach before practice to make sure arrangements are made.

What if we have a family vacation scheduled during the season?

Football and Cheer requires significant preparation and practice as well as a strong commitment to the team. Family vacations during the season are highly discouraged. Depending upon team rules, playing/cheering time may be impacted because of the time your player/cheerleader misses because of the vacation. You are encouraged to schedule your vacations prior to or after the season to avoid playing time impacts. If you must schedule a family vacation during the season please inform your Head Coach as soon as possible to understand how your team and your child will be impacted.

Will the concession stand be open during practice?

Yes, the concession stand will be open during most practices.  The menu will include snacks, grilled items, candy and drinks.

When and where are games held?

Games are held most Saturdays beginning mid-late August and ending the beginning of November.  An official schedule will be released the 1st or 2nd week of August.  Home games are played at Sparkman Middle School.  Away games are played at opponent fields (Madison City, Hazel Green, Monrovia, Madison County, Decatur, Hartselle, New Hope, Scottsboro and Buckhorn).  It is the parents responsibility to provide transportation for their child to and from ALL games.

How much does it cost to get into a game?

Admission to games is $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for students ages 5-18, children 4 and under are free.

Will my child receive a trophy at the end of the season?

All players and cheerleaders who complete the season will receive a trophy at the end of year banquet that will be held after the Championship game day.

How can I help?

There are many volunteer opportunities with your team as well as with the NWMCAA organization.  Your Head Coach will be soliciting their Parent group directly for volunteers for the many team and game day responsibilities.  If you are interested in volunteering your time to the NWMCAA organization, please contact one of the NWMCAAlrepresentatives directly.
